By Rebecca Farm - Edited Press Release | July 24, 2016

KALISPELL, Mont. - Competitors at tore across Ian Stark's track here at The Event at Rebecca Farm today. In the Adequan USEA Gold Cup CIC3* Division, Barb Carbo burned up the course on her own Eveready, a 17 year-old Swedish Warmblood. With a score of 53.9, Crabo was one of only two clear rides within the time for today's CIC3* cross country competition.

"He was just amazing, he was on fire from the moment he left the start box," said Crabo of Eveready. "He just was dragging me around the course, whatever I pointed him at he just went and said 'let's go faster.' It was a blast."

The Adequan USEA Gold Cup consists of 11 qualifying competitions at Advanced and CIC3* levels, which culminate at the Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championships, to be held in September.

Hannah Sue Burnett, The Event at Rebecca Farm's overnight leader in the CCI3* division had a run-in with a moose on cross country today while aboard Cooley Dream. Fortunately, although moose are common to this corner of Northwest Montana, Burnett's moose was simply one of the creatively designed jumps crafted by expert jump builder, Bert Wood.

Hannah Sue Burnett, The Plains, Va., came back from her moosecapade to ride Mary Ann Ghadban's Under Suspection to a double clear round into the lead with 45.6 penalties. Bruce "Buck" Davidson on Copper Beach, a 10-year-old Irish Sport Horse owned by Carl Segal and Sherrie Martin, kept the pressure on with a score of 45.7, placing him just one tenth of a point behind Burnett. In third is Hawley Bennett-Awad on her own Jollybo with a score of 53.9.

With cross country complete for competitors in the top international levels, all eyes are now turned to show jumping, which starts Sunday at 10 a.m.Open Preliminary, Junior Open Preliminary, Senior Open Training and Junior Open Training will also compete tomorrow in show jumping.

In other action today, Open Intermediate and Preliminary divisions took to the cross country course in the afternoon and lower levels leaped into action with show jumping.

Sunday, weekend festivities will continue at The Event's world-class trade fair, complete with more than 100 vendors, full concessions, and a free Kids Zone featuring pony rides, face painting, bounce houses, arts and crafts and more. Admission is free and a one-time recommended $10 parking donation per car is requested to support Halt Cancer at X.
