Baughman and the 12-year-old Zangersheide gelding (Herald III x Cassini I) owned by Manderly Farm LLC have been working on their straightness, he shared. “We've been working on getting him a little bit straighter behind. It worked out today! He can get a little nervous and tight, but he was pretty relaxed.”
“It’s great to be back at Tryon. I love it, and there's always good vibes here,” he detailed. “I love that everything's in one place, and it's easy and set up great. The horses are happy, and it feels very similar to being at home, so they settle well, and there's no stress for me, no stress for the horses, and it makes for a happy weekend.”
Though he hadn’t gotten a chance to tour the cross-country course as of Thursday afternoon, Baughman is letting his preparation play out for the rest of the weekend. “Wednesday, we started winding down and giving him easier work to get him loose and happy so that he'd be prepped and full of energy this week. It’s worked out!”
