Boyd Martin claimed the win aboard Fedarman B on a final score of 29.0 in the CCI4*-L division to claim the CCI4*-L USET Foundation National Championship, adding nothing to their dressage score after two double-clear jumping rounds. In reserve, and the highest-ranked international rider, Colleen Loach and Vermont, the 10-year-old Hanoverian gelding (Van Helsing x Heraldik XX) owned by Peter Barry, also completed their weekend without adding any points, ending on a score of 29.3. Clinching third place honors via double-clear stadium round for a total of 31.0 points was Leslie Law and Lady Chatterley, the 11-year-old Holsteiner mare (Connor 48 x Mytens XX) owned by Lesley Grant-Law, Jackie Brown and Steve Brown.
After two days of competition at the Tryon Spring International Three-Day Event, all short-format divisions (CCI4*-S, CCI3*-S, and CCI1*-S) have concluded the dressage and show jumping phases of competition at Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort (TIEC). Long format divisions, including the CCI3*-L and CCI4*-L, the first of two CCI4*-L dates hosted in the United States this year – both at TIEC – wrapped up the dressage phase on Friday evening ahead of cross-country competition for all divisions on Saturday, May 14.

Over 120 entries have settled in on the grounds of the Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, North Carolina for the first-ever Tryon International Spring Three-Day Event which will run CCI4*-L, CCI3*-L, CCI4*-S, CCI3*-S, and CCI1*-S levels over the course of four days May 12-16.
Following the cancellation of the Jersey Fresh International Three-Day Event for 2022, US Equestrian opened a one-week bid process to fill the date on the 2022 U.S. Eventing Calendar for one year only. Per the 2022 U.S. FEI Eventing Calendar Policies and Procedures, applications to host the CCI4*-L level during the 2022 competition season are accepted by invitation only.
New for 2021, the Youth Team Challenge series came to its conclusion at Tryon, with teams and individuals competing for titles in the CCI1*, CCI2*-L, and CCI3*-L East Coast Final.
The final day of The Dutta Corp Tryon International Three-Day Event at Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort (TIEC) saw the new national champion crowned at the CCI 4*-L level Sunday after a thrilling Show Jumping competition. Woods Baughman (USA) claimed the Dutta Corp/USEF 4*-L Eventing National Championship with C’est La Vie 135 on a score of 29.4, enjoying a sweet comeback after overcoming a broken back and improving from a third place finish in 2020. Sweetening the victory even more was finishing just ahead of his coach, Sharon White (USA) aboard Claus 63, her own 2012 Holsteiner gelding (Catoo x Levisto), who wrapped up their weekend on a score of 36.7 for reserve after adding .8 penalties for time to their total. Will Coleman (USA) and Chin Tonic HS had one rail down to finish third, scoring an even 38 points with the 2012 Holsteiner gelding (Chin Champ x Quinar) owned by Hyperion Stud LLC.
The inaugural Adequan®/USEF Eventing Youth Team Challenge (YTC) – East Coast Final continued on Saturday with the cross-country phase of the competition. In the CCI1*-L and CCI3*-L, teams made up of riders from across the country have taken the lead while the Area II team holds strong in the CCI2*-L competition.
The Dutta Corp/USEF CCI 4*-L Eventing National Championship podium has rearranged after Cross-Country, with the same trio of horse-and-rider pairs holding onto top three spots ahead of jumping competition on Sunday. Woods Baughman (USA) and C’est La Vie are the new pair to beat, adding nothing to their Dressage score after blazing around the Cross-Country course in nine minutes and 36 seconds. Will Coleman (USA) and Chin Tonic HS added 7.6 time penalties to their 26 for a total score of 33.6 for the 2012 Holsteiner gelding (Chin Champ x Quinar) owned by Hyperion Stud LLC, while Sharon White (USA) and Claus 63, her own 2012 Holsteiner gelding (Catoo x Levisto), sit at 35.9 points for third place after adding six time penalties to their score.
