About Mr. Micklem:
In October, William Micklem of County Wicklow, Ireland, will be traveling to the U.S. to judge the Young Horse Event at Fair Hill International in Maryland and then again two weeks later at Galway Downs International in California. Between those two competitions, on Tuesday, October 21, we are fortunate that he will present this clinic at Phyllis Dawson’s Windchase Farm in Purcellville, VA.
William is a Fellow of the British Horse Society and a Level 3 coach for Horse Sport Ireland. Among American eventers, he is known as the man who found Custom Made and Gilt Edge, ridden internationally by David O’Connor, found Biko and bred Mandiba, ridden internationally by Karen O’Connor, and bred High Kingdom, currently ridden internationally by Zara Phillips.
Or, perhaps you know William for his Micklem bridle, which has earned wide praise from dressage and event riders for its design (which accommodates the physiology and sensitivity of the horse’s nose and jaws), for horses’ willingness to happily accept the contact in it, and for its acceptance by the FEI for use in all of its disciplines. Go to www.williammicklem.com to learn more about it.
William is experienced as a coach of young Irish event riders, as a trainer of young horses, and as a master teacher of safe and effective cross country riding.
