24-Year-Old Thoroughbred Dies After Beginner Novice Cross-Country at Poplar Place

Hamilton, Georgia – Poplar Place Farm and the USEA are saddened to report that a 24-year-old Thoroughbred named Fate’s Secret ridden by Victoria Blake and owned by Laura Duhamel collapsed and died after completing cross-country in the Junior Beginner Novice Rider Division of the Area III Championship today. The rider was unhurt. Blood samples were collected from Fate’s Secret and will be analyzed as a part of the ongoing USEA Cardiopulmonary Research Study.
