After a very successful inaugural year, the 2025 USEA Interscholastic Eventing League (IEL) Championship is quickly approaching. Grab your fellow barn mates, classmates, Pony Club members, and friends in grades 5th through 12th to create an IEL Club today. The best way for members to prepare for this exciting event is to participate in IEL Team Challenges held at venues across eight different USEA Areas throughout the year.

There are a total of 59 events in Areas I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, and VIII that plan to host IEL Team Challenges in 2025. The program has added 21 new challenges across the country and to make sure you don’t miss out on any of the fun, register a new IEL Club by clicking here.

The USEA Interscholastic Eventing League (IEL) was created as an official program of the USEA in August 2020 with the mission to unite junior riders who are in the 5th through 12th grade and provide a supportive community through which students can continue to pursue their riding interests. The IEL Team Challenges, which IEL members can compete in with teams of 3 or 4 participants, are the first introduction to team competition for junior members. The program championship will be held at Stable View in Aiken, South Carolina on May 2-4, now that Friday has been added to the competition schedule.

The IEL Championship will be hosted alongside the USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Championship, allowing a unique opportunity for middle and high school aged members to meet and mingle with college athletes and their coaches to learn more about programs that they may be interested in attending in the future.

View the list of IEL Team Challenges below and start planning your competition season! Keep in mind that the calendar is a tentative list of events hosting IEL Team Challenges and is subject to change. New challenges can be added regularly, so members are encouraged to reach out to their favorite local events to invite them to apply to host an IEL Team Challenge. Please continue to check here for any updates throughout the year.

About the USEA Interscholastic Eventing League (IEL)

In August 2020, the USEA Board of Governors approved the creation of the USEA Interscholastic Eventing League (IEL) as an official program of the USEA. The mission of IEL is to unite junior riders who are in the 5th—12th grade and provide a supportive community through which students can continue to pursue their riding interests. A group of junior members in the 5th—12th grade who share a common bond, such as the same barn, school, Pony Club, or other connection, can register with the USEA as an IEL Club. The second annual USEA Interscholastic Eventing Championship will be held alongside the USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Championship at Stable View in Aiken, South Carolina, on May 2-4, 2025. Click here to learn more about the Interscholastic Eventing League.

The USEA would like to thank Bates Saddles, Horse & Country, Kerrits, Nunn Finer, Sidelines, U.S. Equestrian, WeRideTogether, and World Equestrian Brands for sponsoring the USEA Interscholastic Eventing League.

Soaked, but Not Shaken: Boyd Martin Flies the Flag for the U.S. at Defender Kentucky in Second

Boyd Martin and the 12-year-old Holsteiner gelding Commando 3 were the last pair to go in the Defender Kentucky CCI5*-L field on Friday afternoon and were warmly greeted to the bluegrass with an impressive downpour that outshined anything the other horse and rider pairs had to combat throughout the day. But that didn’t stop this pair from putting their best foot forward and impressing the judges enough to earn them a score of 26.0, just 0.2 points ahead of second-place pair Tom McEwen (GBR) and Brookfield Quality.
