Young and Future Event Horses Kick Off The Event at Rebecca Farm

The USEA Young Event Horse (YEH) and Future Event Horse (FEH) Classes kicked off an exciting week of competition at the Event at Rebecca Farm in Kalispell, Montana. Judged by Cindy DePorter (Dressage), Frances O’Reilly (Conformation) and Bobby Stevenson (Jumping), the classes provided a great opportunity for the young horses to get their feet wet and their owners to get some constructive feedback.
The Pinnacle Syndicate LLC’s Tomlong Ratatouille bested 18 other horses in the 5-year-old division and earned a coveted qualifying score for the YEH Championships in the Fall. Ridden by Kelsey Horn, the Thoroughbred gelding scored an 81.4 in his first attempt at a YEH class. Hot on their heels was Bo and Margareta Crabo’s Quite Electric, a Swedish Warmblood gelding (Quite Easy x Victoria's Electra) who Barb Crabo piloted to a 79.9. There was a tie for third on a 78.4 between Samantha Pritchard riding her own King’s Landing, a Thoroughbred gelding by El Corredor and out of Shalini and Karen O’Neil on Linda Weeks’ Briena, a Swedish Warmblood mare by Brave Heart II and out of L.A. Baltie River Rose.
The 4-year-olds were feeling especially frisky this morning as stops were quite common on the course, but it was a great learning experience for all. Earl McFall and the Let's Go DF Syndicate’s Lets Go DF finished in the top spot with a 78. The Holsteiner gelding, who is by Linaro and out of Rani D, was the 2014 West Coast Future Event Horse Champion. Anne Carr rode Maria Ernst’s Bavarian Warmblood gelding, Mr. Right, to second place on a 77.2 and earned the highest jump score of the division. Third place went to Jamie Lawrence and her own, Pavi's Sinfandel, a Trakehner mare by Pavarotti and out of Sidra Holland who scored a 74.7.
It was a lot of atmosphere for the future event horses as they were presented on the triangle this morning for Frances O’Reilly, but they handled it well. Catie Cejka and her homebred Clarity Redefined, a Rheinland Pfalz-Saar filly by Catherston Liberator and out of Lexi Freedom were the sole entry in the Yearling division and scored a 78.2.
In the 3-year-old class, Quantum Theory took top honors with a 79.3. Owned by Leigh Mesher and handled by Marc Grandia, the gelding is a bay Thoroughbred/Holsteiner gelding. Second went to Karly Pestl’s Galavant on a 77.8 and Mindy Groth-Hussey’s RU Feeling Fancy (72) and Crescendo (68.45) rounded out the division.
