Welcome to the 2015 Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championship, Presented by VTO Saddlery. The Texas Rose Horse Park was buzzing with excitement as the bulk of competitors began to arrive and unpack. In addition to the AEC, the week will also feature the Adequan USEA Gold Cup Series Final, the USEA Adult Team Championship and the PHC Event College educational opportunities.

Today competitors have bedded stalls, unpacked trailers and hacked out around the park. Competitors Sarah Richards and Dana Sitzman are excited to kick off a great week of competition after two days of traveling from Colorado. This is Richards’ third year and Sitzman’s second year competing at the AEC. “I love the comaraderie between riders, I love watching the upper level horses compete, I love it all,” said Sitzman on why she includes AEC in her competition schedule.

Riders from all corners of the United States have gathered in Tyler, Texas to earn exciting prizes as well as national titles in each division of Eventing. Because many riders compete exclusively in their geographic areas, the AEC offer a unique opportunity for riders to get new competitors and friends. Haley Curry is competing in the Professional’s Choice Junior Training Division on Resolute Protector. She returns to Texas after competing in the Novice division last year. “I absolutely loved it. I had the best time [last year],” said Curry.

Captain Mark Phillips’ cross-country courses are available to walk at 3pm this afternoon. This year’s USEA welcome party will feature a demonstration joust by Four Winds Renaissance Faire and will begin at 6pm in the covered arena.
