Traveling to the Wellpride AEC
Planning the head to the Wellpride American Eventing Championships out in Chicago this coming September but dreading the drive? Or maybe you're still on the fence about whether or not you should make that long haul out to Lamplight. In either case, there are options!
The USEA is working to put together rideshares for people who are planning to attend the AEC's. Simply email Amy Daum ([email protected]) your name, email address, and where you live and we'll try and pair you up with other competitors who will be traveling from the same area. This way, you can share a ride AND save money on gas. And of course, meet a new eventing friend from your area!
Those East Coast members who attended the Wellpride AEC in years past may be hesitant to make the trip west, but fear not–it’s not as difficult, or as far, as you might think. To check out the distance from home to Wayne, Illinois, go to this mileage calculator.
If you're not used to trips longer than a few hours, check out the “Happy Tails” article in the January/February issue of Eventing USA for travel tips. And if you’re looking for a place where you and your horse can stay the night while getting to and from the event, check out sites like www.horsemotel.com for a list of prospects.
