Through the Lens: 2023 USEA American Eventing Championships

The USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC) presented by Nutrena Feeds returned to the Kentucky Horse Park for the second time from Aug. 29-Sept. 3, and it was a week to remember. Twenty-four champions were crowned, but there were so many more amazing moments in between. Here are some of our favorites.

About the USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC)

The USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC), presented by Nutrena Feeds, is the pinnacle of the sport at the national levels. Held annually, the best junior, adult amateur, and professional competitors gather to vie for national championship titles at every level from Beginner Novice to Advanced. This ultimate test of horse and rider draws hundreds of combinations from around the country to compete for fabulous prizes, a piece of the substantial prize money, and the chance to be named the National Champion at their respective levels. In fact, the 2021 AEC garnered over 1,000 entries and now stands as the largest eventing competition in North American history. Dressage Sets Stage for Exciting Cross-Country at Rebecca Farm

FEI dressage wrapped on Friday at The Event at Rebecca Farm leaving most of the standings tight at the top. In fact, there's a tie atop the CCI4*-L between two pairs with many similarities. Karen O'Neal and Clooney 14 and Jennie Brannigan and Pascal share the lead on a 33.8. Both have been bringing these horses along for several years and both horses are debuting at this level.

Road to the AEC: Telford Has Her Swan Song with a Special OTTB

As a young girl growing up in Connecticut, I had ponies and horses and was an active 4-Her. My family didn’t have a lot of money so my riding was primarily limited to 4-H and small sanctioned hunter shows. I was very fortunate that my parents supported my passion and my father, as a carpenter, built my barn and outdoor arena.

Greengard and That's Me Z Kickstart The Event at Rebecca Farm

Tommy Greengard and That's Me Z sit atop the CCI3*-S, the first of The Event at Rebecca Farm's five FEI divisions to conclude the dressage phase. The second half of the 34-horse CCI2*-L field will be staged Friday, along with dressage for CCI4*-L and CCI4*-S, and the CCI3*-L.
