The Maryland 5 Star Daily: Show Jumping
Yesterday was full of excitement at Fair Hill, and today will have riders of all levels on edge as they jump (quite literally) into the final phase. Following the final horse inspections this morning, horses and riders in both the CCI3*-L and CCI5*-L will contest Michel Vaillancourt's show jumping track in hopes of being crowned champion.
The final horse inspection begins at 9:00 a.m. EST with the CCI3*-L first and the five-star field following immediately after. Then the real fun begins.
We will see the three-star field compete starting at 10:30 a.m. EST with an estimated start time for the awards ceremony at 12:30 p.m. EST. The top three didn't budge after cross-country, so its Isabelle Bosley and Conner in the lead on a score of 24.8, but there is no room for error with Alyssa Phillips and Rockett 19 hot on their heels with a score of 25.5
The five-star show jumping will begin at 2:30 p.m. EST, and all eyes will be on New Zealand's Monica Spencer and her beloved Thoroughbred Artist. They have one rail in hand thanks to their phenomenal dressage score and speedy cross-country round, which they might need as historically Artist has a rail or two down at this level. One rail and no time would leave the duo in the lead, but an extra rail or a few ticks of time could be costly and could move Switzerland's Felix Vogg into the top spot on the podium.
