The Fork Photo Gallery - Advanced XC Pics

By USEA

Cross country photos from the Advanced division of last week's horse trials at The Fork in Norwood, North Carolina.

Stephanie Boyer & Macloud
Phillip Dutton & Connaught (this horse is totally built like a greyhound! SO powerful) - they finished 2nd
Sally Cousins & Plain Dealing Farm's Tsunami (the little mare Kim Severson used to ride) finished 9th
Jane Sleeper & UN come skittering out of the woodwork (well, actually off the bank)
Lauren O'Brien & longtime partner 17-year-old Dunrath Alto finished 5th
James Moore & Jockaloo sploosh through the Goose Pond
Karen O'C. and one of the bay geldings (I believe this one is Mandiba... but I'm probably wrong...since he got 2nd in the 3*...)I'm confused.
Okay, here's Mike Winter & Manhattan (they ended up 6th) - I think a lot of people with multiple rides ran out of order
Julia Steinberg & Mr. Big ended up 7th
Stephen Steinhoff & Henery VIII
Mikki Kuchta & Oz
Paige Hewlett & Steely Dan over the Goose (look at his smug little face! The Goose, that is...)
The Goose got a lot of action... Here's Katie Willis & Polar Storm -guess who this gelding's half-brother is? Allison Springer's Arthur! Both are sired by Phyllis Dawson's Brandenburg's Windstar
Aussie Boyd Martin & Ying Yang Yo bogey on home for a 6th place finish.
I absolutely love these guys - Bonnie Mosser & Merloch!
He's just a big, sweet (talented) pony! What a ham! Oh yeah, they won the Advanced division, by the way :)
Gina Fiore Kelly & Feral Errol tear out of the Goose Pond (as if the Goose were chasing them! he he)
Another one of Gina, because it's a neat shot (love their expressions!) - they finished 10th
Julie Norman & Bradley
Melissa Hunsberger & Expedience leap off the bank - they finished 10th
John Williams & the awesome Carrick - wouldn't we just love a barnful of Carricks & Merlochs? They finished 3rd overall
Kelly Sult & Hollywood
Lovely horse - they just won at Pine Top at the end of February
Stephen Steinhoff on his second ride Kourous du Rouville
Karl Slezak & Showdown
Sally Cousins & The Robber Baron gallop for home.
Kristin Bond & Three Wishes II
Lauren Lambert & Baba Creek had a double-clear round
Phillip Dutton & Tru Luck finished 11th
The up-close & personal view from the spectators's tent :)
Tiffani Loudon-Meetze & Above N' Beyond finished 8th
Dorothy Crowell & Radio Flyer - last Advanced riders of the day... lookin' to have a nice round, except...
Poor Dorothy took a tumble into the water -- she & Radio Flyer were fine, and like the good sport she is, laughed it off
And since she was by the spectators tent anyways, decided to accept a glass of wine from Bernadette Halphin, Jim Cogdell's lovely Irish wife. :)

Michael Jung is Back to His Record-Breaking Ways in the Bluegrass at Defender Kentucky

Germany’s Michael Jung hasn’t competed in a five-star since the last time he won the Kentucky Three-Day Event in 2022 with his longtime partner fischerChipmunk FRH, but his love for this event and his horse’s readiness compelled him to return this year and break an all-time record for lowest dressage score at this event (which they set at that 2022 event with a score of 20.1) at the same time. They lead the five-star field with a nearly 10-point lead on a score of 18.6.
