A new day at the #AEC2023, a new chance for six new champions to rise to the occasion. Dressage is officially concluded for this year’s competition, leaving just cross-country for our Beginner Novice competitors and the show jumping finale for our Novice competitors.
In the USEA Novice Championships, five out of six championship divisions overnight leaders from dressage still cling to their top spot on the leaderboard going into show jumping today. In addition, five out of the six divisions have less than a point separating first and second place, meaning there will have to be double-clear efforts across Bobby Murphy’s show jumping track today in order for the standings to remain the same. There is quite the potential for a shake-up, so you know it will make for an exciting showdown in each division!
The lowest winning score so far this weekend is a 25 issued by USEA Training Horse Champion HH Rockstar and Susan Gallagher. However, there are two Novice competitors who could best that score if they go double-clear tomorrow and there are three Beginner Novice leaders who could also earn the title of lowest winning score of any champion this weekend if their trips in cross-country and show jumping go according to plan.
Of the 24 Championship divisions at the AEC this week, the Beginner Novice Rider and Novice Rider championships are the largest with 51 entries each.

It was a busy day at Stable View Oktoberfest in Aiken, South Carolina as all FEI divisions and a few national divisions kicked off their competition weekend, including the 2023 USEF/USEA Developing Horse Eventing National Championships. Both the 6-year-olds and 7-year-olds got their chance to shine down the centerline at the start of the day, with the 7-year-olds also giving their best effort across Michael Vallaincourt’s show jumping track later this afternoon.
