The Texas Rose H.T. held November 5-6, 2022 at the Texas Rose Horse Park in Tyler, Texas was host to the 2022 Area V Championships. The Area V Championships featured four championship divisions at the Beginner Novice, Novice, Training, and Preliminary levels, giving four lucky horse and rider pairs the chance to take their victory gallop and be crowned Area V Champions. Get to know each United States Eventing Association (USEA) Area a little better in this new series, Meet the Areas! This month’s feature is USEA Area V which is made up of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. Area V is host to the USEA Future Event Horse (FEH) Central Championships each year at Haras Hacienda in Magnolia, Texas which will take place this year on October 9. Learn more about Area V below.
The Area V Championships were split into two action-packed weekends with the Novice and Beginner Novice sections taking place during the Meadowcreek Park event in Kosse, Texas in September, and the Preliminary and Training sections running during the Holly Hill Horse Trials in Benton, Louisiana in late October. Four horse and rider pairs rose to the occasion and claimed Champion honors, and we caught up with each pair to recap their thoughts on their successful weekends.
The Area V Championships were split between two events: the Novice and Beginner Novice Championships were held at the Meadowcreek Park Fall Social Event in Kosse, Texas on September 19-20, 2020, and the Preliminary and Training Championships were held at the Texas Rose Horse Park Fall Horse Trials in Tyler, Texas on November 7-8, 2020.
For over 20 years the USEA Instructors’ Certification Program (ICP) has been educating all levels of eventing instructors to confirm their knowledge base, both theoretical and practical, upon which they will continue to build throughout their teaching lifetime. The USEA is now shining the spotlight each month on some of the 300 ICP Certified Instructors.
Riders in Area V that have declared Professional status with the USEA have been invited to compete in the 2013 Area V Pro Pony Challenge Friday evening, March 29, before the start of the March 30-31 Texas Rose Horse Park Horse Trials. We have a very generous offer from Kim Brunson of Brunson Equestrian Center located at the Texas Rose Horse Park (TRHP) in Tyler to provide ponies for a wonderful FUNdraising opportunity to support the Area V 2013 Championships, which will be hosted by Greenwood Farm in October. The Area V Council has set a goal to raise $5,000 for the Area V Championships, and you can help us reach that goal!
Area V and the North Texas Eventing Association (NTEA) held their Annual Meeting and 2012 Year-End Awards Banquet on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Fort Worth Sheraton and Spa. Over 250 attended the joint year-end awards dinner banquet complete with live auction, silent auction, and dancing late into the night to Empty Pockets, Top 40 country and classic rock band.
