The Defender U.S. Eventing Team moved up nearly five places on the leaderboard in the SAP-Cup throughout the three phases to ultimately clinch a well-deserved second place finish. The team completed on a final combined score of 123.7, behind Great Britian, who secured first on a 112.8. Ireland finished in third with a final score on 138. This is the second year in a row the team has secured a second-place finish at CHIO Aachen in the CCIO4*-S.

There was excitement through the very last rider in the SAP-Cup at CHIO Aachen this afternoon. The concluding phase, cross-country, was the decider in the CCIO4*-S, with Germany taking team gold and Great Britain's Yasmin Ingham on Banzai du Loir winning individual gold. The U.S. team took home silver.
It promises to be an extremely exciting day tomorrow in the cross-country competition of the SAP-Cup at the Aachen CCIO4*-S. After the dressage and jumping, the British team Olympic gold medallist Tom McEwen is heading the field, but Germany's Michael Jung is close at his heels. The British team is also in the lead, ahead of Germany, while the U.S. team fell from second after dressage to fourth.

It was a historic week for U.S. Eventing as American athletes achieved their best results ever in the CCIO4*-S at CHIO Aachen. The Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team of Will Coleman and Off The Record, Sydney Elliott and QC Diamantaire, Ariel Grald and Leamore Master Plan, and Tamie Smith and Mai Baum took second place in the FEI Eventing Nations Cup – the highest result by a U.S. team at the prestigious event.

The CHIO Aachen Digital Champion of Champions will take place on August 7-8 through the EquiRatings Eventing Manager. The USEA will be teaming up with Eventing Manager for this upcoming event to encourage USEA members to play. The USEA will have its own league within the CHIO Aachen Digital Champion of Champions named the "USEVENTING" league.
Today German eventer Ingrid Klimke became the first rider to win the eventing at the CHIO Aachen three times: in 2015 with SAP Escada, in 2017 with SAP Hale Bob OLD, and again today with SAP Hale Bob OLD. British rider Laura Collett was the overnight leader on London 52, but a runout at the final combination on course, the Stawag Complex, cost them the win.
