The United States Eventing Association (USEA) is excited to announce the date for the 2027 USEA Young Event Horse (YEH) Symposium. Taking place on Monday, February 15, 2027, this educational symposium is open to everyone interested in learning more about the successful production of Young Event Horses and will be split into two sessions.

The YEH Symposium will take place at two premier venues in Ocala, Florida. During the morning session, participants will have the chance to observe and learn as four to five horses jump a complete YEH Qualifier course. A distinguished panel, likely including a rider, trainer, judge, and veterinarian, will provide expert commentary and evaluate the performances, offering valuable insight into judging and developing young event horses. Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage in discussion and ask questions throughout the session.

The day continues in the afternoon with an educational masterclass and entertaining evening featuring top international competitors. The riders will be mounted and demonstrate techniques for improving jumping strength, building confidence, and introducing cross-country obstacles. Following the demonstrations, once the sun sets, guests are invited to enjoy food and drinks while participating in an engaging Q&A session with the panelists.

Additional details regarding venue locations, featured clinicians, and registration will be announced this winter. Whether you are a rider, trainer, breeder, owner, or simply passionate about the future of eventing, the 2027 USEA YEH Symposium promises to be an exciting opportunity to learn from some of the sport's leading professionals.

For questions regarding the symposium, please contact Abby Fulmer at [email protected]. Stay tuned for additional event details and registration information.

About the USEA Young Event Horse (YEH) Program

The Young Event Horse (YEH) Program was first established in 2004 as an eventing talent search. Much like similar programs in Europe, the YEH program was designed to identify young horses aged 4- and 5-years-old, that possess the talent and disposition to, with proper training, excel at the uppermost levels of the sport. The ultimate goal of the program is to distinguish horses with the potential to compete at the four- and five-star levels, but many fine horses that excel at the lower levels are also showcased by the program.

The YEH program provides an opportunity for breeders and owners to exhibit the potential of their young horses while encouraging the breeding and development of top event horses for the future. The program rewards horses who are educated and prepared in a correct and progressive manner. At qualifying events, youngsters complete a dressage test and a jumping/galloping/general impression phase. At Championships, young horses are also evaluated on their conformation in addition to the dressage test and jumping/galloping/general impression phase.
