Wintry winds and spine-chilling showers plagued the competitors during the first day of the Dansko Fair Hill International CCI2*/CCI3* in Elkton, Maryland, but spirits were high and scores were low as top horses and riders in the country jostled for position early in the event. Though he’s well-known for his popular cross-country courses, John Williams showed he’s no slouch in the dressage ring, taking the lead in the CCI3* with Sweepea Dean with 42.6. None could catch the first of the day in the CCI2*, as Leslie Law (GBR) and Hugo Fast posted a 45.3. Hopefully, the tumultuous skies will clear tomorrow as the second half of the riders take to the ring. Emily Daily photos. Results.
