Meet the Teams: The Interscholastic Edition

By Kaleigh Collett - USEA Staff | May 11, 2026

Happy USEA Intercollegiate & Interscholastic Eventing Championships week to all who celebrate! The USEA can't wait to see all the Intercollegiate and IEL competitors, team representatives, coaches, and supporters at Stable View in Aiken, South Carolina from May 15-17.

Each year, records continue to be broken as the event gains momentum among our middle school, high school, and undergraduate collegiate athletes. The Interscholastic Eventing League (IEL) will see the largest participation since the inception of the IEL Championships with 83 entries making up 22 teams to represent 15 clubs in the duel for the champion title.

As the USEA and its programs embark on the first ever standalone event, hosted solely for program members and participants of the Stable View Alumni Cup, we wanted to find a special way to invite our viewers into the spirit and camaraderie of the event. With this in mind, the colleges and IEL Clubs participating in this year's championships were challenged to create a 60-second or less video that introduces their teams and the individual competitors representing them to our followers. Keep scrolling to view the IEL Clubs' submissions, and tune back in tomorrow to meet the Intercollegiate schools that are set to compete!

"This year, Radway Eventing will be sending two teams to the USEA Interscholastic Eventing Championship, and one of our graduates, Breeze Robertson, will compete in the Intercollegiate Eventing Championship as well. We are very excited to return and defend our hobby horse win from last year!" - Jennifer Fox, Radway Eventing Coach

Salt Marsh Pony Club

The Salt Marsh Pony Club IEL team from Charleston, SC is comprised of four pony club friends who are very active eventers. Carter and Gray Hudgins are twins sisters, in 9th grade, each bringing along her own young geldings up the levels. Isabel Lacson, a 10th grader, is also starting her young OTTB on his eventing journey.
Rowan Hess, a 7th grader, is learning the sport from her mare who has previously competed through modified. They are excited for a fun weekend ahead!

Tryon Collective

Established in 2025, Tryon Collective is connecting riders throughout the foothills surrounding Tryon, North Carolina. Rooted in the area’s rich equestrian community, the club helps riders navigate pathways through intercollegiate eventing while building meaningful connections along the way. Tryon Collective is dedicated to fostering horsemanship, lasting friendships, and a supportive balance between academics and competition.

About the USEA Interscholastic Eventing League (IEL)

In August 2020, the USEA Board of Governors approved the creation of the USEA Interscholastic Eventing League (IEL) as an official program of the USEA. The mission of IEL is to unite junior riders who are in the 5th—12th grade and provide a supportive community through which students can continue to pursue their riding interests. A group of junior members in the 5th—12th grade who share a common bond, such as the same barn, school, Pony Club, or other connection, can register with the USEA as an IEL Club. The 2026 USEA Intercollegiate & IEL Championships will be held at Stable View in Aiken, South Carolina, on May 15-17. Click here to learn more about the Interscholastic Eventing League.
