Horse Euthanized at Windermere Run Horse Trials

By USEA Staff | June 7, 2025

Officials at Windermere Run Horse Trials in Grandview, Missouri, have notified the U.S. Equestrian (USEF) and the United States Eventing Association (USEA) that the 9-year-old Hanoverian/Thoroughbred mare Long Legs Lenore, ridden, owned, and bred by Katie Sisk, DVM of Carthage, Missouri, was humanely euthanized today following an incident on cross-county during the Open Preliminary division of the event.

The incident occurred at fence 15 on the course, an open frangible oxer. Long Legs Lenore impacted the fence but did not fall. Long Legs Lenore received immediate veterinary care on site, and the decision was made to euthanize. Per USEF rules, the horse was necropsied to confirm the injury.

The rider, Dr. Sisk, was evaluated onsite, and out of an abundance of caution was transported to a nearby hospital for further observation.

Further inquiries should be directed to USEA CEO Rob Burk at [email protected].

The USEF and USEA extend our condolences to all Long Legs Lenore’s connections.
