A very impressive group of youngsters showed up to compete at the USEA Future Event Horse Competition at The Maryland Horse Trials II at Loch Moy. When all of the score sheets had been tallied it was Heidi Brueckner’s Thoroughbred/Holsteiner gelding, Redshift, who had the highest score of the day with a 72.7. Patricia Bewley’s Catoctin Ruthless 030 was not far behind with a 70.5.

The horses in trainer Joe Davis’ barn at Horseshoe Indianapolis don’t just get standard hay in their nets each day. Throughout the afternoon, Davis or one of his employees opens the HayGain machine that sits at the end of his shed row and pulls out a warm, beautiful-smelling bale of freshly-steamed hay to fill their nets.
