Experience the Spirit of New Orleans at this Year’s USEA Annual Meeting & Convention

The United States Eventing Association, Inc. (USEA) is excited to head to Area V this Dec. 11-14 for the 2025 USEA Annual Meeting & Convention in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana! Known for its rich history, world-class jazz, and electrifying Mardi Gras celebrations, New Orleans will set the stage for a lively week of discussion and education on the most important topics in the sport of eventing. Gather your fellow members and meet us to celebrate the last year of success in “The Big Easy!”

The Annual Meeting & Convention will take place at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel, which is conveniently located near New Orlean’s iconic French Quarter and the Central Business District. This family and pet friendly hotel is located on Canal Street and boasts premium amenities, lavish guest rooms and suites, a rooftop pool, and a fully equipped fitness center. For those traveling by car, valet parking service is available for Sheraton guests, as self-parking is not offered at the hotel. Valet parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis for $43/night.

If you plan to fly to this year’s convention, the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) is located just 11 miles from downtown New Orleans. Armstrong International airport provides direct access to many commercial airlines, including Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit, and United Airlines.

While you’re in town, make sure to find time to explore! New Orleans offers endless possibilities to fill your time between meetings:

  • Visit the French Quarter – Wander through the historic streets of New Orleans to appreciate the incredible architecture and shop from a collection of local craftsman, souvenirs, and food vendors at the market.
  • Tour Mardi Gras World – This museum will allow you to immerse yourself in the history of Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Get up close to the elaborate floats that have graced the streets in years past and learn the history of the celebration.
  • Walk through the Celebration of the Oaks – A beloved New Orleans tradition, the Celebration of the Oaks lights up City Park in New Orleans each year and has easily become one of the most popular holiday activities in the area. Stroll through the illuminated Botanical Gardens or channel your inner child at the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park!
  • Visit the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) – Located in City Park, NOMA features a vast collection of fine art and an expansive sculpture garden.
  • Enjoy the Audubon Aquarium - Discover marine life from the Gulf of Mexico and beyond, including sharks, penguins, and a touch pool for hands-on experiences.
  • Stroll through the Audubon Zoo - Home to a diverse range of animals, the zoo offers engaging exhibits and play areas, making it a hit with children.
  • Go to Vue Orleans – This interactive cultural experience and observatory provides a 360-degree panoramic view of the city from the 34th floor of the Four Seasons Hotel. Learn about the city’s history and culture through a series of interactive exhibits and enjoy the stunning view!
  • Experience Traditional New Orleans Jazz at Preservation Hall – Coined as one of the most legendary music venues in New Orleans, Preservation Hall is dedicated to preserving traditional New Orleans jazz. The hall hosts nightly live performances featuring a rotating lineup of seasoned local musicians, including the famous Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

Tom McEwen and JL Dublin are Stars of the Show at the MARS Badminton Horse Trials

The Olympic gold medallists Tom McEwen and JL Dublin lit up the arena at the MARS Badminton Horse Trials with a stunning performance and took the lead after the first day of dressage with the excellent mark of 22.4. They have almost five penalties over second-placed Emily King and Valmy Biats on 27.3.

We might still be recovering physically from the excitement of the 2025 USEA Intercollegiate & Interscholastic Eventing Championships, but mentally we keep playing the weekend over and over again in our heads. This is a weekend that many eventers and lovers of the sport all over the country (ourselves included) look forward to each year and this year was no exception. Fast Facts: Tryon International Three-Day Event

As we gear up for the summer, the competition season isn’t slowing down and it’s time for one of the staple events on the international calendar in the U.S., the Tryon International Three-Day Event (Mill Spring, North Carolina).
