Eventing USA Has Been Redesigned for 2013

By USEA

You might notice something different about the USEA’s official publication, Eventing USA, when you receive the first 2013 issue at the end of January. The magazine has been completely redesigned, and we hope you will enjoy the eye-catching new look.

In 2011, the number of published issues was increased from six per year to ten. You will continue to receive ten issues in 2013, bringing you tons of training and education articles, horse/human interest stories, event recaps, and more. Also look forward to monthly video updates from the editorial staff on U.S. Eventing TV.

Issue 1 is all about the 2012 USEA Annual Meeting and Convention, featuring several pages of colorful photos of the beautiful Broadmoor hotel and the Hall of Fame and awards ceremonies. We also recap the latest buzz about the future of U.S. eventing and important rule changes. We will say farewell to our 2012 diarist, welcome an exciting new contributor, and start the year off with training and health tips for you and your horse.

You no longer need to opt in to receiving the magazine when you renew your USEA membership – you’ll receive it automatically. So, don’t forget to update your USEA membership for 2013 if you haven’t already. A Full membership costs $85 annually, but you can become a Supporting Member for $35 and receive a subscription to the magazine as well as the electronic newsletters. Go online to the Membership webpage or contact the Membership Department by emailing Jennifer Hardwick at [email protected] or calling 703-669-9993. Want to purchase extra copies for family and friends? Individual issues of the magazine may be purchased for $5 apiece at the USEA Web Store.

For nearly 40 years, the USEA has published this informative, entertaining, and educational magazine for its members. Devoted solely to the sport of eventing, it is the only publication of its kind in the United States. As always, we welcome feedback from our members—remember this is your magazine! If you have any questions about Eventing USA or would like to submit story ideas, write articles, or send us photos, please contact our editor Leslie Threlkeld at [email protected] or call 703-779-9893. The course ends with a final treat for riders to take in stunning views of Mt. Hood with a loop through the old Far Hill Farms field. The beginning of the course will first start with a warm-up loop around show jumping obstacles in the outdoor ring at Sherwood Forest and then riders will continue directly onto the course. Alliston’s Busy Weekend, Braitling’s Reuniting with Five-Star Mount, & Kalkman’s Advanced Victory Highlight Twin Rivers Summer H.T.

As he was finishing tacking up his horse in preparation to navigate the cross-country course at the 2024 Twin Rivers Summer Horse Trials, James Alliston expressed concern about navigating the 101 Freeway. That’s because as soon as he crossed the finish line aboard Intermediate level winner Addyson (Ampere x Nickerbocker) at 10:38 a.m. on Saturday—his fifth cross-country round of the morning with three at Preliminary and two at Intermediate—the West Coast-based five-star rider had to drive 185 miles on the 101 Freeway from Twin Rivers Ranch in Paso Robles, California, to San Francisco International Airport to catch a 4:35 p.m. flight to Frankfurt, Germany.
