Cavallino Cocktail 2002-2015

By Shelby Allen - USEA Staff | December 31, 2015

The USEA is sadden to hear of the sudden loss of Cavallino Cocktail owned by Benita Strini. “Skotty,” a 13-year-old Irish Sport Horse mare was euthanized following complications from a colic surgery on December 30, 2015. Strini bought Skotty from Zach Brandt, an up-and-coming young professional this year. Skotty took Brandt to his first CCI1* and eventually their first CCI3* together where they finished 10th. The pair was also named to the USEF Eventing Under 25 Developing Rider program for three consecutive years.

Brant sold Skotty to Strini this past August in order to launch his own Eventing business. Strini and Skotty had a successful fall season at the Preliminary and CCI1* levels winning the Open Preliminary division at “The Event” at Kelly’s Ford and Finishing second at the Virginia CCI1* in October.

We send our condolences to both Benita Strini, Zach Brandt and everyone who loved this special horse.
