After years spent as a professional rider working with young and difficult horses, Jayne Lloyd knew what kind of sport horses she wanted to produce when she got into breeding 12 years ago—competitive, rideable, and trainable that would be suitable for amateurs.

In February 2023, the United States Eventing Association (USEA) announced a new pathway for the Future Event Horse (FEH) program. The Young Horse Show Series (YHS) has taken over the FEH program, and will run classes under the YHS umbrella during the 2023 competition season. USEA members that are interested in gaining exposure for their young horses are encouraged to participate in YHS events this year.

The United States Eventing Association (USEA) and the Young Horse Show Series (YHS) are proud to announce their official collaboration in further supporting and promoting the development of young horse programs in the U.S. for sport horse breeders, owners, riders, and trainers. The YHS will now be taking ownership of the USEA Future Event Horse (FEH) program for the 2023 season. In turn, the USEA will be sponsoring their regional championships with FEH classes, and the existing YHS National Eventer Discipline Recognition Program.

Attendees of the 2022 USEA Annual Meeting & Convention gathered together on Saturday, December 10 for a celebration of some of the sport’s most influential key players that takes place only once every four years: the USEA Eventing Hall of Fame Gala. This year the USEA Eventing Hall of Fame welcomed five new inductees into its class of esteemed riders, horses, and influencers of the sport. While only one of the inductees could be present themselves this year, the other four were well-represented with acceptance speeches on their behalf from family and close friends.

This year a new class will be joining the 47 eventing legends currently in the United States Eventing Association (USEA) Eventing Hall of Fame. Induction into the Hall of Fame is the highest honor awarded within the sport of eventing in the United States. Those invited to join the USEA's Eventing Hall of Fame have truly made a difference in the sport of eventing. Hall of Fame members have included past Association presidents, volunteers, riders, founders, course designers, officials, organizers, horses, horse owners, and coaches.

The final West Coast winners have been crowned at the 2022 Dutta Corp. USEA YEH West Coast Championships and USEA FEH West Coast Championships. On the final day of competition at Twin Rivers Ranch in Paso Robles, California, eager owners, anxious riders, and excited spectators watched as the respective judges determined the fate of their young horses in the YEH West Coast 4-Year-Old and 5-Year-Old divisions as well as in the FEH West Coast 3-Year-Old and 4-Year-Old divisions. With the young mounts competing for their respective titles this weekend producing some of the highest scores across all regional championships, the West Coast is proving it could be the best coast.

Four-year-olds and their respective riders kicked off competition on day one of the 2022 Dutta Corp. USEA YEH West Coast Championships and USEA FEH West Coast Championships early this morning in the dressage ring at Twin Rivers Ranch in Paso Robles, California. Having seen the largest turn-out for the West Coast Championships in the program's histories, the day was filled with tight competition, championship crownings, and the lingering feeling of a bright future for the sport of eventing on the West Coast.

What a busy Young Event Horse (YEH) and Future Event Horse (FEH) Championship season it has been for the USEA and it all wraps up this weekend at the 2022 Dutta Corp. USEA YEH West Coast Championships and USEA FEH Championships at Twin Rivers Ranch. Tons of talented young horses have made their way to Paso Robles, California for this year’s YEH and FEH finale, including several former Champions, in hopes of bringing home top honors this year.

In a few short weeks, qualified horses for the Dutta Corp. USEA Young Event Horse (YEH) and Future Event Horse (FEH) West Coast Championships will be coming together in Paso Robles, California for a weekend at Twin Rivers Ranch celebrating the next generation of eventing sport horses.

This weekend's USEA Future Event Horse (FEH) Central Championships, which took place at Haras Hacienda in Magnolia, Texas, brought forth 24 promising young horses for presentation to judges Christel Carlson and Karen Winn. Carlson & Winn applauded the beautiful facility and how well the event was run. When asked how the quality of horses in the Central Championships compared to the East and West coasts, Carlson commented, "there are good horses in all areas. There are average horses and good horses that have average days, but there are good horses in every area." Winn furthered the sentiment by remarking, “many of these horses in the Central Championships came from a very long way to be here, and many of them are returning horses as well. We appreciate seeing that for the program.”
