The 2017 USEA Annual Meeting and Convention is coming and we hope to see you there! Join us in Long Beach, California, December 6-10 for a long weekend discussing, learning about, and celebrating eventing.
This is a special weekend that everyone can enjoy, and there are countless lectures and presentations on the future of the sport, horse health, rider safety, veterinary medicine, and much more. Participants at the USEA Annual Meeting and Convention are welcome to attend as many meetings and presentations as they like.
The focus of this year’s Convention is on event organizers. Without the event organizers we would not have all the well-run events that we have across the United States, and organizers are typically the first people to arrive and the last to leave the events to make sure that all the small details of an event are running smoothly.
The USEA Annual Meeting and Convention is a great opportunity to meet the influential members of the sport of eventing and get a first-hand look at the newest developments of the sport. We gather to celebrate another great year of eventing. Here are some highlights that you don’t want to miss:

This week's USEA Podcast is about all things Galway! The Galway Downs International Event is taking place this weekend starting on Wednesday, October 28 with the first horse inspection for the FEI levels. Nicole Brown is joined on the show by Galway Downs's cross-country course designer Clayton Fredericks for a chat about what riders can expect at Galway this weekend before she and Diarm Byrne of Equiratings discuss which pairs to watch this weekend.
After the dressage test and the cross-country course, the champions of international eventing had a final hurdle to jump this evening at the Domaine de Sers in the show jumping competition. Despite a few twists in the plot among the top 10 during the event, British rider Laura Collet didn’t put a foot wrong with London 52 (Landos x Vernante), her own, Keith Scott, and Karen Bartlett's 11-year-old Holsteiner gelding.
Today was the final day of competition in The Dutta Corp. USEA Young Event Horse (YEH) and USEA Future Event Horse (FEH) West Coast Championships at Twin Rivers Ranch in Paso Robles, California. Activities began on the combined show jumping and cross-country course early in the morning for the YEH 4- and 5-year-old Championships, testing the jumping aptitude of these very promising youngsters. Championship judges Debbie Adams and Peter Gray evaluated seven 4-year-olds and 15 5-year-olds.
Once again this year, the cross-country event at Les 5 Étoiles de Pau staged a magnificent show for its spectators. Thirty-one combinations and 45 efforts to be negotiated along the 6.3-kilometer course, and all in just 11:08 minutes. That was the challenge that French course designer Pierre Michelet set the 45 competitors on the start list for the only CCI5*-L cross-country event this year.
