WATERFORD, California – October 24, 2011 – Throngs of young horses were welcomed by warm California weather and equestrian enthusiasts as they competed in the 2011 IDHSNA/USEA Future Event Horse (FEH) West Coast Championships. This year-ending event was held at the Ram Tap eventing facility in Fresno, California on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 3 p.m. and was held prior to the October weekend Ram Tap Horse Trials.

Sponsored by United States Eventing Association (USEA) and Irish Draught Horse Society of North America (IDHSNA), FEH shows and classes provide a fantastic opportunity for owners to showcase their young prospective event horses. “It’s exciting to watch all these young horses grow up to eventually compete in recognized events,” says Connie Arthur, California FEH organizer and owner of Lone Tree Farm in Waterford, California.

Garnering a fantastic 69.5 percent score, the overall West Coast 2011 Champion was Foxwood Irish Stout, a yearling Irish Draught Sport Horse colt, owned and shown by Lisette Healy. The 2011 Reserve Champion with a closely scored 67.5 percent was Mint Julep, a three-year-old ISR Sport Pony filly, owned and shown by Tiffany Bennett.

Special thanks to Bill Burton, owner of Ram Tap for holding the 2011 championships at his Fresno facility and congratulations to all competitors for qualifying for the 2011 championship event.
