US Team Passes Final Horse Inspection; Courageous Comet Withdrawn

Sunday morning's final horse inspection at the Alltech FEI World Eventing Championships proved to be a dramatic one. The top nations in the team competition are separated by mere points heading into the last phase of the event, and the atmosphere was tense at the jog lane, as spectators and riders alike held their breath and crossed their fingers.
Each of the U.S. team horses (Neville Bardos, Ballynoecastle RM, Mandiba, and Woodburn) all passed. The U.S. is currently seated in the silver medal position, though only mere points separate them from gold.
Sadly, Becky Holder, riding as an individual for the U.S., withdrew Courageous Comet, after he was sent to the hold box for re-inspection. Holder was in third individually after yesterday's cross-country.
Two horses were sent to the holding area, but both were passed upon re-inspection: Lara de Liedekerke & Nooney Blue (BEL) and Kyle Carter & Madison Park (CAN).
Four horses withdrew after cross-country and did not present this morning: Sonja Johnson & Ringwould Jaguar (AUS), Marco Cappai & Dourango (ITA), Duarte Seabra & Fernhhill Gloster Rebel (POR), and Jessica Phoenix & Exponential (CAN).
55 horses will be competing in the show jumping phase this afternoon around 12:45 (ET).
