Welcome to the first full day of the MARS Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill. Between the Dutta Corp. USEA Young Event Horse (YEH) East Coast Championships for 4- and 5-year-olds, the CCI3*-L, and the CCI5*-L, there is a lot going on in today's schedule.
The YEH 4- and 5-year-old Championships get underway today with both age divisions completing their conformation and dressage portions of their tests and the 4-year-olds also completing their weekend with their jumping and galloping sessions as well. There are 30 entries in this year's 4-year-old class. You can learn more about the Championships here.
Dressage and conformation get underway at 8:00 a.m., and the first horse to tackle the jumping sections will start at 10:00 a.m. ClipMyHorse is live streaming all phases of the competition and you can find the live stream for the dressage here and the jumping here.
In the main arena, CCI3*-L dressage kicks off at 9:00 a.m. with Boyd Martin and Christine, Thomas, and Tommie Turner's Holsteiner gelding Mo Chroi (Dinken x Pila) leading the field of 54. Only 27 of the pairs will present today, with the remaining pairs executing their dressage test on Friday.
The five-star gets going at 2:00 p.m. with Canada's Jessica Phoenix and five-star first-timer Fluorescent Adolescent (Gaudi x Amelia II), the 16-year-old Canadian Sport Horse mare owned by Makayla Rydzik, kicking off the competition. We will see 11 of the 23 pairs compete tomorrow, and the last horse and rider will ride at 3:35 p.m.
