Red Hills Horse Trials Welcomes Back Spectators in 2022

The Red Hills Horse International Horse Trials will be held March 11-13 in beautiful Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park in Tallahassee, Florida. The equestrian competition, which has been held annually for more than 20 years, is thrilled to welcome back spectators this year. The 2021 trials were held without spectators because of pandemic.

Marilyn Little and RF Scandalous began their weekend in the CCI4*-S at the 2021 Red Hills International Horse Trials with a strong performance in dressage and added two clean jumping phases to finish on their dressage score of 22.4 and take home the blue ribbon.

Red Hills Boasts 18 Frangible Fences for Cross-Country Course

Demonstrating a commitment to safety, Red Hills International Horse Trials has built 18 frangible jumps for its six levels of cross-country courses. Michael Etherington-Smith designed the CCI4*-S and Advanced courses and David O’Connor designed the CCI3*-S, CCI2*-S, Intermediate, and Preliminary courses.

Red Hills International Horse Trials, the first FEI competition of 2021, is off to a good start with an exciting day of dressage. The first phase of the three-day competition began at 8:00 a.m. today in Tallahassee, Florida with the CCI4*-S level riding for judges Peter Gray and Jane Hamlin (USA).

Fast Facts: 2021 Red Hills International

The first FEI competition of the 2021 U.S. eventing season is upon us at Elinor Klapp Phipps Park in Tallahassee Florida at the 23rd annual Red Hills International Horse Trials. As in years past, the event will offer CCI2*-S, CCI3*-S, and CCI4*-S international divisions and Preliminary, Intermediate, and Advanced horse trials divisions.

Just seven pairs managed to put in double clear rounds on Chris Barnard’s CCI4*-S show jumping course today. While the time didn’t prove difficult to make for most, Barnard’s course shook up the leaderboard with some of the top contenders taking down multiple rails.

Twenty-Five Horses Move Forward in the Red Hills CCI4*-S

All 26 horses that completed Michael Etherington-Smith's CCI4*-S cross-country course yesterday presented at the final horse inspection this morning. The ground jury consisting of Robert Stevenson (USA) and Judy Hancock (GBR) accepted all but one horse.

Brandon McMechan and Oscar's Wild Take the Cake

Twenty-eight horses set out on Michael Etherington-Smith’s CCI4*-S cross-country course today, and time was the biggest factor of the day. Only two of the pairs had jumping faults, but every single pair incurred time penalties, with the fastest ride of the day moving up 17 places to take the lead.
