Caroline Pamukcu came to the Tryon International CCI4*-L to tick off the box with three of her 9-year-olds and to impress selectors as the Paris Olympics loom this summer. Of her three, HSH Blake has the most experience, though this is his first CCI4*-L, and he skipped around Helen West’s cross-country course today inside the optimum time of 10 minutes.
For such a young horse, HSH Blake has been all over the world and in many of the biggest arenas with Caroline Pamukcu, so cantering into the dressage ring today at the Tryon International CCI4*-L was no big deal despite the big stadium.
Four stellar cross-country rounds from members of the U.S. Eventing Team kept the team secure at the top of the leaderboard at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, ahead of tomorrow’s final phase of show jumping, as they sit on a team total of 86.2.
It was a start to finish win in the 2023 USEF CCI3*-L National Championship for Caroline Pamukcu and HSH Connor (Connor 48 x Galwaybay Merstona), a 7-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding owned by Pamukcu, Sherrie Martin, and Luann McElduff. The pair had a fault-free weekend to finish on their dressage score of 25.4.
In the USEF Eventing CCI3*-L National Championship, Caroline Pamacku and HSH Connor (Connor 48 x Galwaybay Merstona) saved the best for last, taking over the lead as the last combination in the division, earning a 25.4 for a significant lead heading into the cross-country phase tomorrow.
Caroline Pamukcu is no stranger to the winner’s circle in the Dutta Corp. USEA Young Event Horse (YEH) East Coast Championships, having won the 4- and 5-year-old Championships in 2020 and the 4-year-old Championships in 2021. She and her 2020 5-year-old champion, HSH Blake, are heading out to the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, later this week. But before loading up and flying out, Pamukcu guided her and Sherrie Martin's 4-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding HSH Afterglow (Hype x Ringwood Genius), bred by Peter Leonard, to the win in the 2023 Dutta Corp. USEA Young Event Horse East Coast 4-Year-Old Championships.
Whether you’re a one-horse amateur rider or a professional with a string of horses, aiming for the Dutta Corp./USEA Young Event Horse Championships is an exciting goal, and a well-thought out plan will help you get there successfully.
