SmartPak Equine/USEA Preliminary Three-Day Heads To Virginia Horse Trials

Seven Preliminary riders seeking the chance to experience the thrill of the ‘chase are headed to Virginia Horse Trials in Lexington, Virginia this weekend to compete in the first Smart Pak Equine/USEA Preliminary Three-Day Event of 2011.
The Classic P3D riders will begin their event with the first horse inspection on Friday at 9:00 AM followed by Dressage starting at noon. Endurance day dawns brightly on Saturday with the first rider beginning on Phase A at 7:00 AM. The riders competing on endurance day at Virginia will be experiencing all four phases consisting of the following lengths and speeds: Phase A - 3960 meters at 220mpm. Phase B - 1800 meters at 600 mpm, 6 efforts. Phase C - 4960 meters at 220 mpm. C Halt 5, 10 or no minutes. Phase D - 3800 meters at 520 mpm, 30 efforts. On cross-country they can expect two water complexes, corners, banks, drops, gates, coops, brushes, and a good old fashioned three-day event at the Preliminary level. The weekend for the P3D riders concludes on Sunday with the second horse inspection at 8:00 AM and show jumping to begin at noon.
In addition to having the experience of a lifetime the P3D competitors are also competing for a bevy of prizes including $1,000 in prize money, a SmartPak Wellfleet bridle, a Fleeceworks pad gift set, and a chance to be included in the drawing for a year’s supply of SmartPaks and a Stackhouse saddle. All competitors who finish the weekend will also be awarded completion ribbons complements of Fleeceworks.
