Normally I am not too nervous for jog up, but today was a bit different. There were a very large number of horses being held, and even though Fric looked good, it was still hard to not get a little worked up going down the lane.
At the end of the jog lane, Fric tripped and almost–very gracefully mind you–did a face plant, but recovered nicely. Thankfully, Fric Frac Berence, whose name is finally being pronounced with the French accent it deserves by the Canadian announcer, was accepted.
All the horses and riders looked great today and I always think it is interesting seeing how nice people look all cleaned up… or at least pretending to be.
Following a fun day at the barn, a large group of us went to dinner. It has been really fun getting to meet some of the east coast riders.
Tomorrow the one and two star both do dressage, which I am looking forward to watching, following a flat school and long walk in the morning for Fric and myself. Most of all, I am excited to walk the cross-country course in the afternoon and see what we are up against! So far everyone I’ve spoken to said that Derek di Grazia has designed a great course.
Other than that, there is a French candy vendor on the grounds, which has already tempted me more than once, and the weather today could not have been any better. Good night to all from Bromont!
