Meet the Entries of the 2023 $60,000 Adequan USEA Advanced Final

The #AEC2023, presented by Nutrena Feeds, is just a week away! Riders from all over the country are making their final preparations before they pack up and haul out to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, for a week of fun and competition. In addition to the hundreds of riders who will be aiming to bring home the title of champion from the Beginner Novice to Intermediate level, the AEC is also the host of the always exciting $60,000 Adequan USEA Advanced Final. This year there are 33 horse and rider pairs, ranging from five-star veterans to up-and-coming eventing superstars, on the entry list. Fast Facts:

  • Will Coleman has two rides in the division—Chin Tonic HS, who completed his first CCI5*-L at Kentucky in April, and Off The Record, who won the Aachen CCIO4*-S (Germany) in 2021 and competed on the silver medal-winning U.S. team this summer in Germany.
  • Phillip Dutton will be the busiest rider in the division with three rides—veteran Z, 2023 Bromont CCI4*-L winner Azure, and up-and-comer Denim.
  • Phelps (Mia Farley), Sorocaima (Buck Davidson), and AP Prime (Leah Lang-Gluscic) are representing off-the-track Thoroughbreds in the division.
  • Miks Master C (Liz Halliday-Sharp), Early Review C (Sydney Solomon), Sorocaima (Buck Davidson), Flower Girl (Jennie Jarnstrom-Dennis), Phelps (Mia Farley), AP Prime (Leah Lang-Gluscic), Camarillo (Doug Payne), and Quantum Leap (Doug Payne) are all U.S.-bred.
  • Miks Master C and Liz Halliday-Sharp earned the Land Rover USEF CCI5*-L Eventing Reserve National Championship at the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event in April.
  • Sharon White and Claus 63 are coming off a big win the Millbrook Horse Trials (Millbrook, New York) in late July.
  • Andrew McConnon brings Wakita 54, who recently won the CCI4*-S at Rebecca Farm, along with his Strzegom Nations Cup ride Ferrie’s Cello.
  • Canada’s Karl Slezak returns to the Kentucky Horse Park with his 2023 Cosequin Lexington CCI4*-S winner Hot Bobo.

About the USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC)

The USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC), presented by Nutrena Feeds, is the pinnacle of the sport at the national levels. Held annually, the best junior, adult amateur, and professional competitors gather to vie for national championship titles at every level from Beginner Novice to Advanced. This ultimate test of horse and rider draws hundreds of combinations from around the country to compete for fabulous prizes, a piece of the substantial prize money, and the chance to be named the National Champion at their respective levels. In fact, the 2021 AEC garnered over 1,000 entries and now stands as the largest eventing competition in North American history. About the $60,000 Adequan USEA Advanced Final

The $60,000 Adequan® USEA Advanced Final will take place at the 2023 USEA American Eventing Championships presented by Nutrena Feeds at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, Aug. 29—Sept. 3, 2023. Thanks to Adequan’s amazing support, the Adequan® USEA Advanced Final will bring together the country’s top riders to vie for $60,000 in prize money and the title of Adequan® Champion. To qualify for the $60,000 Adequan® USEA Advanced Final at the AEC in 2023, competitors will need to complete a minimum of two events without cross-country jump penalties at any USEA recognized Advanced horse trials, CCI4*-S, CCI4*-L , CCI5*-L, World Championships or Olympic Games. For more than 50 years, Jane Cory has been an unsung hero of the sport. The Area II trainer, judge, and event organizer welcomed generations of riders of all levels to her family’s beloved Pleasant Hollow Farm in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, ensured the success of multitudes of shows and horse trials each year, and shared her love of horsemanship to all her students. Because of her deep dedication to her role, and contribution to the sport of eventing, she was recently honored by the USEA with the Andrew H. Popiel Trophy, given annually to organizers for their tireless commitment.
