The American Connemara Pony Society (ACPS) announces the “Ride to WEG” fundraiser, a virtual fundraising campaign, June 5 through September 1. The effort will allow ACPS to be present at the 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games.
“I am happy to be help launch the Ride to WEG campaign. If I can help raise funds and awareness for Connemaras, I am there,” said Max McManamy, USEF Junior Equestrian of the Year.
McManamy started her eventing career on a Connemara mare and later owned and competed on her daughter, a half bred Connemara Warmblood cross, another talented pony who loved cross country and show jumping. “You could say I cut my cross-country teeth on the ponies,” said McManamy.
In fact, many upper level as well as Olympic careers were launched aboard Connemaras. ACPS hopes to capture some of those stories, photos, and support from Connemara fans world-wide as a result of the Ride to WEG campaign – email the ACPS
Showcasing the Connemara breed to an International audience, with a booth in the WEG Equestrian Village, as well as breed demonstrations at the Games is a once in a lifetime opportunity to highlight the talent, heart and athleticism of the ponies.
