Fast Facts: The Event at TerraNova

The addition of a new event to the competition calendar is always exciting, but the Event at TerraNova in Myakka City, Florida aims to really wow their first-time competitors at their inaugural event with top-notch competition facilities, stunning course design, exceptional amenities, and a horse show experience unlike any other. With a roster of 142 entries altogether from Starter to the in their CCI4*-S level, the Event at TerraNova is off to a great start!

The Field:

  • The inaugural CCI4*-S at TerraNova will feature 16 entries. Of those 16 entries, three belong to individual Olympic Gold Medalist Leslie Law. Law will be bringing along Beatrice Rey-Herme’s 10-year-old Oldenburg gelding First Class (Furstenball x Hauptstubuch Laguna), Craig McCallum’s 9-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Typically Fernhill (Dondoctro Ryal K x Castlefield Sarah), and Stephen and Jackie Brown’s 10-year-old Holsteiner mare Lady Chatterley (Connor x Jucy).
  • Also presenting multiple horses is Joe Meyer who has two entries in the field: Light Speed Equestrian, LLC’s 11-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Buccaneer (Clover Brigade x Tobar Bhride) and Theresa Foote’s 18-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Clip Clop (Crosstown Dancer x Terrific Star).
  • All of the entries in this weekend’s four-star have competed at the four-star level previously.
  • Law and Lady Chatterley, who was the 2020 Bates USEA Mare of the Year, had a huge winning streak earlier this year, winning four events in a row at the three-star and Intermediate levels. They recently placed fifth at the mare’s first CCI4*-S outing at Stable View Oktoberfest.
  • The oldest horse in the field is Meyers’ mount Clip Clop at the age of 18 while there is a tie for the youngest between Jennie Jarnstrom’s Hanoverian mare Flower Girl (Futurist x Lucy) and Laws’ entry Typically Fernhill, both of which are 9 years old.
  • Of all of the divisions at Terra Nova, the CCI2*-S has the largest field with 24 entries.
  • There will be seven countries represented: Brazil, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Mexico, Sweden, and U.S.

The Facts:

  • Alec Lochore (GBR) is the technical delegate with Sharyn Anitco (USA) assisting.
  • Christian Landolt (SUI) is the president of the ground jury of the CCI4*-S and will be assisted by Robert Stevenson (USA).
  • Mark Phillips (GBR) is the cross-country course designer for the CCI4*-S, assisted by Mogie Bearden-Muller (USA).
  • Nick Granat (USA) is the show jumping course designer.
  • The CCI4*-S is a qualifier for the $60,000 Adequan USEA Advanced Final that will take place at the USEA American Eventing Championships presented by Nutrena Feeds.

  • 7:40 a.m. - CCI1* dressage
  • 9:17 a.m. - CC3* dressage
  • 10:40 a.m. - CCI4* dressage
  • 2:05 p.m. - CCI2* dressage

Saturday, October 23

  • 9:30 a.m. - CCI1* cross-country
  • 10:06 a.m. - CCI2* cross-country
  • 12:10 p.m. - CCI4* cross-country
  • 1:35 p.m. - CCI3* cross-country

Sunday, October 24

  • 7:30 a.m. - Final horse inspection for all FEI divisions
  • 11:25 a.m. - CCI3* show jumping
  • 12:15 p.m. - CCI4* show jumping
  • 1:20 p.m. - CCI2* show jumping
  • 3:20 p.m. - CCI1* show jumping

This is an opportunity for the sport to recognize those horses and riders who excelled in eventing throughout the year. It is also an opportunity to recognize and honor the very important people who have served the sport tirelessly both in a non-riding capacity and riding capacity during their golden years.

Stable View is Ramping Up for the 2024 Intercollegiate & IEL Championships

Anticipation for the 2024 USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Championship and inaugural USEA Interscholastic Eventing League (IEL) Championship is growing, and the host venue, Stable View, is up for the task of making both events an unforgettable experience for all involved. For the first time, the Intercollegiate and IEL program championships will be hosted on the same weekend at the Stable View H.T. in Aiken, South Carolina, on May 4-5, 2024, creating greater unity between the programs and demonstrating a clear pipeline of participation in the sport from grade school through college and beyond.
