Fast Facts: 2023 USEA Annual Meeting & Convention

Welcome to the Show Me state and to Area IV USEA members! The 2023 USEA Annual Meeting & Convention kicks of tomorrow and features four full days of educational seminars, committee meetings, and social gatherings all with one aim—to bring the eventing community together to continue to improve upon and celebrate the sport that we all love. This year’s Convention takes place in St. Louis, Missouri, at the Marriott St. Louis Grand in downtown St. Louis from Dec. 7-10, and we have rounded up everything you need to know to make the most of your time in the heartland.

  • When: Dec. 7-10, 2023
  • Where: Marriott St. Louis Grand | 800 Washington Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63101
  • There are an impressive 17 educational seminars, 16 open forums, and 41 committee meetings on the schedule. To learn more about the various educational seminars being offered, click here.
  • There are two tracks that attendees may follow, each with their own unique content. Feel free to mix and match as you see fit to attend the sessions that speak to you!
  • Stop by the Majestic Ballroom Foyer each morning from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. for a continental breakfast graciously sponsored by Rebecca Farm.
  • Special events:
    • The Show Jumping Seminar on Thursday, Dec. 7 from 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. will kick-off convention week.
    • The USEA Board of Governors will meet on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 3:00 P.M. and Sunday, Dec. 10 at 9:00 A.M. All are welcome to sit in and hear what is currently taking place on the USEA agenda.
    • The USEA Board of Governors will host a Welcome Reception on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 6:00 P.M in the Crystal Ballroom (20th floor) of the Marriott St. Louis Grand hotel for all convention attendees.
    • The 2023 silver medal Pan American Games team will come together for a recap on Friday, Dec. 8 at 1:00 p.m. in Majestic Ballroom D to discuss their experience in Santiago, Chile.
    • Join Area IV as they extend their hospitality by welcoming all USEA members to St. Louis during the Area IV Welcome Reception & Awards Celebration on Friday, Dec. 8 at 6:30 P.M. in Majestic Ballroom D.
    • The USEA Annual Meeting of Members Luncheon and Keynote Presentation will take place on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 12:00 p.m. and will feature an exciting presentation from this year’s Keynote Speaker Dr. Temple Grandin.
    • Celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of our members throughout the year during the USEA Year-End Awards Dinner on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the Majestic Ballroom D-E. Awards cocktails will begin an hour prior to the luncheon in the Majestic Ballroom Foyer.
  • Tickets can still be purchased for both the Meeting of Members Luncheon and Keynote Presentation and the USEA Year-End Awards Dinner here.
  • Please note that the USEA will not be livestreaming the Annual Meeting & Convention this year. If you will not be able to attend in-person, make sure you follow the USEA on social media @useventing and visit the Convention webpage to follow along with the media coverage throughout the event.
  • Not registered for convention yet? Don’t worry! You can register to attend on-site in the Mezzanine starting Thursday at 7:00 a.m.

Rule Refresher: Not a Non-Compete? Not Allowed on Grounds

Bringing your future eventing prospect with you to a horse trial as a non-compete can be a wonderful educational opportunity for horses not used to the hustle and bustle of the show grounds. However, horses must be registered with the show office as a "non-compete" horse in order to be allowed on grounds. Bringing horses to an event to school, to provide lessons, or to campaign for sale is strictly prohibited.

2024 RevitaVet USEA Young Rider of the Year Molly Duda Has Weathered the Ups and Downs of Top-Level Sport and Come Out Stronger

Molly Duda’s 2024 got off to a strong start as she completed her first Advanced event with Disco Traveler, her 2023 USEF Eventing Young Rider Championship gold-medal partner. The pair won the Advanced division at Twin Rivers (Paso Robles, California) in February and followed it up with a second-place finish in their first CCI4*-S at Galway Downs (Temecula, California) in March. But it wasn’t totally smooth sailing on the way to their second consecutive RevitaVet USEA Young Rider of the Year award.
