Equine Injury at Ocala International

Ocala, FL—April 19— It is with deep sadness that the team behind the Ocala International shares the passing of Troisade, owned and ridden by Samantha Thomas. Troisade took a misstep between fences during cross-country and was immediately attended to by multiple veterinarians. He was vanned to Peterson & Smith Equine Hospital + Complete Care where it was determined that it was in his best interest to be humanely euthanized.
Thomas and Triosade, a 13-year-old Thoroughbred gelding (Divine Park x Moondancer), were competing in the CCI2*-L FEI Division. Thomas, a talented young rider, had developed a strong partnership with Troisade through the levels, and he was greatly loved by those who knew him.
The horse will undergo a necropsy at the University of Florida Veterinary Hospital for further examination. Samantha was uninjured in the incident.
The Florida Horse Park Organizing Committee, the officials of the Ocala International, and the USEA extend our sincere condolences to Thomas and everyone connected to Troisade.
