Three USEA YEH Grads Named to Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team for FEI Eventing Nations Cup Canada CCIO4*-S

US Equestrian announced the four combinations selected to represent the Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team at the FEI Eventing Nations Cup Canada CCIO4*-S, three of which are graduates of the USEA Young Event Horse (YEH) program. Competition will take place from August 18-21, 2022, at Bromont Horse Park in Quebec, Canada. The team will be led by Chef d’Equipe Leslie Law.

Following the conclusion of the Eventing Elite Program Task Force, appointed by the US Equestrian President, US Equestrian is pleased to release the job description and begin the recruitment process for the Eventing Technical Advisor and Chef d’Equipe. This individual will lead High Performance Eventing and specifically the Elite Program and Team in the U.S. to sustained success at World Championship and Olympic Games level. The Federation endeavors to partner with a leader who will drive strategic direction in the Eventing Elite Program and foster strong communication and team culture.

USEA President Max Corcoran Appointed USEF Eventing Elite Program and Team Facilitator

On May 1, 2022, Max Corcoran was appointed as the Eventing Elite Program and Team Facilitator. In her role, Corcoran will support the areas of communication, logistics, and management of the teams for the Eventing Programs to deliver sustained success at World and Olympic Games level. As the Facilitator, she will work closely with the interim Chef d’Equipe/Team Manager, Bobby Costello, and eventing staff to build solid lines of communication with athletes, grooms, owners, coaches, veterinarians, and all stakeholders linked to the athletes and develop the structures around the Elite Program and senior U.S. Eventing Team.

Refresh Your Understanding of the USEF COVID-19 Action Plan

With the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) announcement in May 2021 that anyone who is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can participate in indoor and outdoor activities, large or small, without wearing a face covering/mask or physically distancing, changes were made to the USEF COVID-19 Action Plan accordingly. By definition, an individual is considered to be fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series (Pfizer, Moderna, etc.), or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson).

US Equestrian Announces Bid Allocations for Advanced Level Competitions for 2023-2027

US Equestrian is pleased to announce two competitions approved by the USEF Board of Directors to host Advanced level events during the 2023-2027 competition cycle. Stable View May Horse Trials has been allocated Week 18 and Woodside Spring Horse Trials has been allocated Week 21. Week 18 was vacated by the previous bid recipient and Week 21 had remained vacant through the previous rounds of bidding.

The United States Equestrian Federation announced on Wednesday, April 13 that Robert (Bobby) Costello has been appointed as the Interim Eventing Chef d’Equipe and Team Manager. Costello will serve in this role through September 30, 2022, which will include the World Championships in Pratoni, Italy.

US Equestrian Announces Calendar Modifications to the 2023-2027 Eventing Calendar

Lexington, Ky. -In accordance with the 2023-2027 U.S. Eventing Calendar CCI4*-L, CCI4*-S, CCI3*-L, and Advanced Policies and Procedures, competitions that were allocated a bid may request modifications to their award levels. The following modifications were reviewed by the Eventing Sport Committee, International Disciplines Council Ad Hoc Calendar Group, and approved by the Board of Directors Ad Hoc Calendar Group. The complete 2023-2027 CCI4*-L, CCI4*-S, CCI3*-L, and Advanced Bid Allocation Summary and Dates can be viewed, here. The approved modifications are in green and items that are still pending are in red.

EHV-1 Update: Extension of Recommended Caution for California Equine Events

The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has issued an Extension of Recommended Caution for California Equine Events. The California State Veterinarian recommends that all equine events of any discipline continue to be postponed through March 31, and all non-essential horse movements also be postponed at least through March 31. In line with this extension, USEF-licensed competitions in California scheduled to take place during this window have taken the following actions:

USEF Establishes the USEF Ukraine Relief Fund to Support Ukraine Horses and Equestrians

US Equestrian will be joining the FEI in their recently announced efforts to provide support to the equestrian community of Ukraine by establishing the USEF Ukraine Relief Fund. One-hundred percent of funds collected will go to the FEI solidarity relief fund and directly to those in need of support. The FEI is liaising closely with the Ukrainian Equestrian Federation (UEF) and neighboring countries to facilitate support. The USEF Board of Directors has committed to allocating additional relief funding.
