The American Horse Trials Foundation is proud to announce that they will once again be funding the “Chasing the Gold” Grant for 2026. The funding has increased for 2026 to include two horse and athlete combinations who have the attainable goal to successfully compete on the eventing world stage.

It is the Foundation’s mission to strengthen and directly impact the United States’ ability to win medals at CCIO competitions. They are looking for candidates whose goals align with the mission of the American Horse Trials Foundation and the “Chasing the Gold” Grant. This grant will cover $25,000 for competition experience in Europe for each recipient. Related expenses such as training may be included, but subject to approval by the AHTF Grants Committee.

The American Horse Trials Foundation will be giving the highest consideration to the athlete/horse combinations who have completed a CCI4*-L with zero cross-country jump penalties within the last two years. The Foundation will also give priority to combinations that have not been selected for an Olympic or World Championship Team.

In the application we ask that the applicants put forth a clear road to their success by sharing their understanding of and commitment to the training, competition, and business plan they will pursue to achieve their success.

Athletes need to submit an application via email for consideration no later than Nov. 21, 2025 to [email protected]. The chosen athlete/horse combinations will be announced at this year’s USEA USEA Annual Meeting & Convention in December. The application can be accessed here.

The American Horse Trials Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation established to assist Three Day Event Riders and Organizers in raising tax deductible financial support for national and international competition.
