The 2018 USEA Annual Meeting & Convention featured a panel including Dr. Mark Hart, Phillip Dutton, Erik Duvander, Lynn Symansky, Sam Watson, William Coleman, and Will Connell reviewing the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) that took place at the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) in North Carolina.
Dr. Hart, who served as Chief Medical Officer for the WEG, and Will Connell, USEF’s Director of Sports Programs, reflected on the games overall and the different challenges that the games presented, everything from the short time that TIEC had to prepare to the impending threat of Hurricane Florence in the week leading up to the games.
Dutton, Symansky, Coleman, Watson, and Duvander all offered their own thoughts on the games overall before opening the panel up to questions, covering topics ranging from how to improve in the future, the difference between riding as an individual or on a team, the cross-country course, and more.
