In this video, Boyd Martin works with a group of riders to practice rideability with their horses using a figure-8 pattern over two verticals with a long approach before the fence and a roll-back turn after the fence. Martin encourages the riders to use their heads to gently look where they are going to direct the horse and stay square in their position instead of swinging their bodies to encourage the horse to turn. Although it’s a simple exercise, Martin stresses the importance of focusing on the details so that they become automatic when riding at a competition. Click here to watch the full video.
