2019 marks the third year of expanding competition in the revival of the Essex Horse Trials. The Event is once again being held at beautiful Moorland Farm in Far Hills, NJ, just a few miles down the road from USET headquarters in Gladstone.

All Cross-Country courses will be irrigated and/or aerated, if needed. Competition staff will decide about irrigation/aeration, weather pending. Open Preliminary "ESSEX" will have more challenging questions than Open Preliminary 2 and Preliminary Rider. The combination will be flagged on a green panel with white numbers and an OPE sticker on the numbered panel of the Open Preliminary "ESSEX" question. Open Preliminary 2 and Preliminary rider will have green panel with white numbers, as usual. All other divisions will be flagged as usual.

Awards

Awards: Prizes and 8 ribbons per division. Prize money for top 6 places in the Advanced and Open Preliminary "ESSEX" Divisions. In addition we will be offering two trophies: -The Golden Nugget Memorial Trophy, donated by Clarissa Wilmerding, will be awarded to the lowest scoring member of a Pony Club who is aged 18 oryounger who completes in all three phases of the Essex Horse Trials in any division. -The Jean and Elliott Haller Perpetual Trophy for Horsemanship will be presented to the rider who demonstrates good horsemanship and a superior partnership between horse and rider. This trophy is donated by Ms. AnnDavid of Hoopstick Farm.

Stabling/Veterinarian

Temporary stabling: $175 for the weekend Thursday, Friday and Saturday. 10X10 Stalls with Doors. Overnight security on premises. $50 stall cleaning deposit is required by a separate check. Stalls must be stripped prior to leaving (check will be destroyed if stall is stripped). Veterinarian:Running S Equine Veterinary Service. 908-832-5484. Other Information

Levels may be divided/combined as entries warrant; Please state preferences under the Eligible Section and birth date on entry. There will be a prominent Farm-stand Food tent with vendors on the grounds and a boutique marketplace with 25 vendors. This is a country weekend for the community and advance tickets for spectators will be on sale through the website: www.essexhorsetrials.org. Dogs must be leashed with human attached: $100 fine for loose dogs. No Motorized Vehicles.
