Pierre Le Goupil Selected as Eventing Course Designer for Paris 2024 Olympic Games

The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) has confirmed the appointment of Pierre Le Goupil (FRA) as Course Designer for Eventing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. A master in his field and highly respected by his peers in a role that requires enormous skill, Pierre Le Goupil (59) knows the sport from both sides of the fence. Born in a family entirely dedicated to horse sport and breeding, his father Andre Le Goupil had been a member of the French Eventing squad at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City – a memory that Le Goupil still has clear in his mind.

Wow! What a whirlwind of a week. The eventers worked their magic in Tokyo, and now have their first female Olympic champion after Julia Krajewski won individual gold for Germany at Tokyo 2020.

The British team won Olympic eventing gold for the first time since 1972. They topped the dressage, increased their lead considerably after cross-country, and, despite both individual leader Oliver Townend and third-placed Laura Collett both having a show jump rail down, they finished 13.9 penalties ahead of the Australians, who took silver.

Julia Krajewski Becomes First Female Individual Olympic Eventing Champion

Eventing has its first female Olympic champion after Julia Krajewski won individual gold for Germany at Tokyo 2020.

The 32-year-old, for so long in the shadow of her title-winning team-mates Michael Jung and Ingrid Klimke, punched in two perfect rounds of showjumping, adding just 0.4 of a time-fault in both the cross-country and the second round of jumping to her dressage score of 25.2.

Major Contenders Pass Final Horse Inspection at the Tokyo Olympics

All the major contenders passed the eventing final horse inspection at the Tokyo Olympics and will carry on to contest the show jumping phase in a few hours’ time.

The ground jury (Nick Burton, GBR, Christina Klingspor, SWE, and the U.S.A.’s Jane Hamlin) and vets only failed to accept one horse - Fantastic Frieda, ridden by Poland’s Joanna Pawlak, who had completed the cross-country in 41st place with a refusal and 25.2 time-faults.

FEI Statement on Equine Fatality at Sea Forest Cross-Country Course

The FEI has announced that the Swiss horse Jet Set, ridden by Robin Godel has had to be euthanized after pulling up extremely lame on the Sea Forest Cross Country Course during Equestrian Eventing at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 on August 1, 2021.
