The 2020 Morven Park Fall International Horse Trials was originally supposed to host a brand new CCI4*-L division this year alongside their existing CCI4*-S, CCI3*-S, CCI2*-S, and Novice through Advanced horse trials. Unfortunately, like so many things in 2020, the new CCI4*-L division was canceled, along with all of Morven's FEI divisions.

For 39 years, the Loudoun Hunt Pony Club (LHPC) has held the Loudoun Hunt Pony Club Horse Trials at Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia. Margaret Good, the District Commissioner (DC) of the Loudoun Hunt Pony Club, has helped organize the horse trials since day one.
The FEI levels originally scheduled at the Morven Park Fall Horse Trials from October 2-4, 2020 have been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. This would have been the first time a CCI4*-L was offered at Morven Park. Park staff were anticipating a record number of competitors, volunteers, and officials to attend from around the United States and other countries. Additionally, inaugural CCI2*YH-S and CCI3*YH-S levels had been planned to showcase up-and-coming horses.
Colleen Rutledge and Covert Rights added another feather to their cap with a win at the Morven Park CCI4*-S. This is the third time the pair have won the class – having won the inaugural Morven Park CIC3* in 2014 and again in 2017.
Phillip Dutton and his duo of bay geldings, Z and Fernhill Singapore, are coming off of a successful weekend at the Stable View CCI4*-S. Dutton kept the momentum going to lead after the first two phases at the Morven Park CCI4*-S. While Z and Fernhill Singapore came to Morven to just do a combined test in preparation for the Fair Hill CCI4*-L, Dutton was still pleased with their performances today.
Morven Park offered its first CIC3* (now CCI4*-S) in 2014 and now five years later it has become a staple on the fall calendar as many riders use the event to prepare for the Fair Hill CCI4*-L and Ocala Jockey Club CCI4*-L. The Leesburg, Virginia event is also playing host to the Area II Championships as well as a CCI3*-S, CCI2*-S, and divisions from Advanced to Novice – offering nearly 400 riders the chance to gallop across the historic property. This is the final year of the CCI4*-S being the top class as in 2020 Morven will add CCI-L divisions to their schedule.
The Morven Park Horse Trials in Leesburg, Virginia (Area II) are held twice yearly in March and October, offering Beginner Novice through Intermediate level in the spring and Beginner Novice through Advanced and CCI2*-S, CCI3*-S, and CCI4*-S divisions in the fall.
It seemed almost too good to be true – 75 degrees and not raining? Not your typical Morven Park International Fall CIC3* cross-country day. Heading into the first phase of the competition in Leesburg, Va. there were 15 pairs entered in the CIC3*, 13 in the Advanced, and five in the Advanced Area II Championships.
