The Essex Horse Trials jumps back into action this summer, July 1-2, with a new format at two iconic locations. On Friday, dressage and show jumping will be held at Hamilton Farm, home of the USET Foundation Headquarters in Gladstone, NJ. The next day, the exciting cross-country phase returns to the familiar surroundings of historic Moorland Farm in Far Hills.
The USEA Foundation is now accepting applications for the Essex Horse Trials Grant, the Seema Sonnad Junior Rider's Grant, and the Haller Scholarship for Eventing Officials.

U.S. Olympic veteran Will Coleman rode his longtime partner, Obos O'Reilly, to the win in the Advanced division of the MARS Essex Horse Trials at historic Moorland Farm. Coleman finished cross-country with no jumping and 6.4 time penalties for a three-phase score of 42.10 penalties on the Four Star Eventing Group's 16-year-old Irish Sport Horse (OBOS Quality x Omard Clover Queen).

The USEA Foundation has released the applications for the 2018 Essex Horse Trials Grant, Seema Sonnad Junior Rider Grant, and Amy Tryon Young Rider Grant. Eligible riders should submit their applications by October 15, 2018.
Australia's Ryan Wood captured the win in the $20,000 Preliminary Essex at the Mars Essex Horse Trials in Far Hills, New Jersey on Saturday. Riding Ruby, owned by Summit Sporthorses Ltd. of Ringoes, New Jersey, the pair led from start to finish going clear on both cross-country and show jumping to finish on their dressage score of 27.70.
