Aiken, S.C.—April 8— The team at Stable View has shared with great sadness that Bold Tiger, ridden by Dr. Nikki Scherrer, DVM, and owned by Jill Tallman, was humanely euthanized as a result of an accident on cross-country while competing at Stable View in Aiken, South Carolina. The pair was competing in the CCI2*-S division.
We at Stable View are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Annie Goodwin, a beloved local rider. She was an exceptional eventer.
The tragic accident happened on Wednesday afternoon while schooling over a Training level obstacle. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injury shortly thereafter at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. The horse was not injured in the accident.
Apart from two holds for rain, local lightning, and with additional thunderstorms in the forecast, precipitating an early close, it was business as usual as Stable View continued with the USEF/USEA Stable View Spring Horse Trials and Adequan/USEF Youth Team Challenge.
Day one of the USEF/USEA Stable View Spring FEI CCI-S 1*/2*/3*/4* and Adequan/USEF Youth Team Challenge has concluded. The national levels took the spotlight for the final day of competition at Oktoberfest. The Beginner Novice, Novice, and Training divisions completed their show jumping over Chris Barnard's course in the Outdoor Arena, and competition concluded with Preliminary, Intermediate, Beginner Novice, and Training cross-country.
After a rainy night, the footing for the FEI cross-country drained nicely and held up well throughout the morning. Elisabeth Halliday-Sharp held on to her overnight lead aboard Fernhill By Night and added 4.8 time faults to her double clear show jumping round to take home the win in the CCI4*-S. Not one rider was able to make it through the finish flags within the time allowed, but the top 28 had no jumping penalties.
The CCI3*-S and CCI4*-S divisions were able to complete their show jumping before the torrential rain interrupted the competition for the CCI2*-S division.
Day one of the annual Stable View Oktoberfest is in the books. Today all FEI competitors completed the dressage portion of competition with the CCI4*-S and CCI3*-S divisions running in the Outdoor Arena and the CCI2*-s dressage in the Hunter Arena.
