It is with great disappointment and sadness that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials due to the coronavirus outbreak.

New Zealand’s Tim Price retained the lead he held after cross-country to take the title at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials with Ringwood Sky Boy. Fifth here last year, the pair produced one of just eight clear show jumping rounds to complete on 27.3, ahead of last year’s winners Great Britain’s Oliver Townend with Ballaghmor Class on 31.9 and New Zealand’s Andrew Nicholson and Swallow Springs on 32.1.

As predicted, it was all change at the top of the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials leaderboard after today’s cross-country phase.

As he did last year, New Zealand’s Sir Mark Todd pulled off a near foot-perfect performance towards the end of the day to head the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials dressage leaderboard going in to tomorrow’s cross-country phase.

Despite being first into the arena this morning at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, no one managed to top defending champion and current World Number One Oliver Townend’s leading dressage score of 27.2 with MHS King Joules. There were, however, some new faces from the morning line up, and a British top five by the end of the afternoon session.

At the end of the HorseQuest Horse Inspection 70 horse and rider combinations from 10 nations make up the start list for the 2018 Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials.

The 2011 Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, the 50th Anniversary of the event, started at 4.00pm with the first horse inspection in the main arena.

Lenamore and British-based New Zealand rider Caroline Powell kept their cool to produce a clear round when it mattered most, to win The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials. The pair also produced their own piece of Burghley history; Caroline is the first New Zealand female winner – and the first from New Zealand since Blyth Tait in 2001 – while Lexi Mackinnon’s 17-year-old Lenamore is the oldest horse to win the Land Rover Perpetual Challenge trophy.

Oliver Townend and Carousel Quest are the undisputed winners of this year’s Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials. Oliver couldn’t have dreamt of a better result. The combination produced a clear round show jumping to add to their clear round cross-country yesterday and of the 80 starters finished the three days of competition a comfortable eight penalties ahead of the 49 who completed.
