Gold Cup Fast Facts: CHC International at Chattahoochee Hills

A small but mighty event, CHC International at Chattahoochee Hills at kicks off tomorrow with the Adequan USEA Gold Cup CIC3* and Advanced divisions. The weather at this Fairburn, Ga venue looked suspect this afternoon, but cleared quickly with sunny 80 degree days predicted for remainder of the competition.

    • Saturday – Dressage, 8:00 a.m., and Show Jumping, 1:00 p.m.
    • Sunday – Cross-Country beginning at 11:00 a.m.

New this year, the Intermediate, Advanced and CIC2/3* tracks run up around the impressive barn.

  • Cross-Country designed by Hugh Lochore (GBR)
  • Dressage judged by Andrew Bennie (NZL) and Susan Graham White (USA)
    • This is Andrew Bennie’s first time judging in the United States, and following this event he will judge at Rolex Kentucky CCI4* and then the Rio Olympic Games this summer.
  • Advanced Combined Test: A great prep for those heading to Rolex Kentucky CCI4* next weekend.
    • FEI Four-Star Test B and 1.25-meter Show Jumping
  • Other weekend activities:
    • Coweta County Drill Team “Chicks in Chaps,” Friday, 6:30 p.m.
    • Pony Grand National, Friday, 6:45 p.m.
    • Bareback Puissance, Saturday, 7:00 p.m.
    • While the event is on the cross-country, a jumper show will take place in the main arena on Sunday.

The first CIC3* rider takes the ring at 11:00 a.m. with followed by the Advanced division.

About the Adequan USEA Gold Cup

Qualifying for the 2016 Adequan USEA Gold Cup Championship began last fall with the Richland Park Advanced & CIC3* (MI), Aspen Farms Advanced (WA), Plantation Field Advanced & CIC3* (PA) and the Woodside International Advanced & CIC3* (CA) and features 11 qualifying competitions throughout the United States at the Advanced Horse Trials and CIC3* levels. The final will take place at the Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championships, September 1-4 in Tryon, North Carolina. Riders who complete a qualifier earn the chance to vie for $40,000 in prize money and thousands of dollars in prizes in the Adequan Advanced Division and the title of Adequan USEA Gold Cup Champion.
