WINDY! Show jumping day today at the Jersey Fresh three-day event was windy with a biting chill in the air. This was particularly unfortunate for all of the competitors who planned on wearing a spring ensemble for the jog. The breezy weather relegated everyone back into their back up outfits of long pants and warm jackets. The good news about the jog however, is that the horses were in fine fettle after Saturday’s cross-country phase.
Cross-country day at the Jersey Fresh Three-Day Event dawned with the threat of thundershowers; but somehow our luck turned for the better. The clouds passed, and the sun blessed us for the entire day. Blustery winds appeared in the afternoon, however, which blew down almost the entire show jumping course which was being set up for tomorrow.
The weather was warm, clear, and sunny on Friday at the Horse Park of New Jersey for the second day of dressage at the Jersey Fresh Three=Day Event. Today’s competition featured the CIC3* and CCI 2* tests. The overall atmosphere seemed low key on the surface due to the lower number of entries and spectators; however, the riders brought their A-games to the venue, under the pressure of this very influential weekend.
A dense fog covered the grounds of the Fork during the second and final morning of the USEF Mandatory Outing for Eventing. Concentrated energy filled the atmosphere as riders and coaches walked the show jumping course multiple times, making final adjustments to what would be their last opportunity to show the selectors that they were one of the best choices for a spot on the team.
The first day of the 2008 USEF Mandatory outing began this humid, drizzly morning at the idyllic Fork Farm in Norwood North Carolina. Nine horse and rider combinations were making their final run for a spot on the 2008 United States Olympic Eventing team. There was an air of great importance to the day, but with a very quiet backdrop as this outing is closed to the public.
