The last and final blog entry is now upon me. I have to say THANK YOU everyone for all of your support. I am now back in my bed in Virginia and wanted to make sure everyone got filled in on how Bromont wrapped up.
Hi USEA!! Great news on the Angelica Run front – we all had clean and wonderful rounds! I (Kristin) am the only one writing, as it was a very long day and we just didn’t have the time to all come back to the same hotel. Trance was impeccable! He was an absolute beast on course (well, as beastly as a horse that goes in a rubber snaffle can be). The corner at five (the giant thing pictured above) caught quite a few people.
I (Kristin) tried some new warm up techniques, which actually involved less warming up and minimal movements, just really getting him to be calm and happy. He was the best ever in the ring. As a matter of fact, he was so calm that I forgot how to ride. I should have done things like put my leg on, but instead I sat a bit stunned and just smiled the whole test.
I am sorry for the long gap in my blog. I kept thinking, “Well…today didn’t go as planned, I will wait until tomorrow.” However, I finally just decided that the bumpy part of the road is as important as the smooth sailing, so here I type!
Kristin Carpenter and her 13-year-old Thoroughbred gelding, Trance, are aiming to compete at the CCI2* at Bromont in Quebec, Canada. Follow along with their journey together as they head from Virginia to Canada for this international competition.
